Where do I start with this wrap?! Firstly it is from Joy and Joe Baby, called King of Birds. The one I have is a size 6, or a Large, and the black weft colour choice. It’s also available in a brown weft.
The main colour of this wrap is just outstanding. It is really vibrant, and the quality is excellent, not a thread out of place. The pattern is a really nice, subtle but strong almost tribal bird design. It is soft right out of the box, and doesn’t really need breaking in. While it is soft there it still has loads of grip, doesn’t slip at all while wrapping. I like the ‘wrong’ side too, the dark colour is lovely and deep, very contrasting. If you like your flip carries that show off both side this is great.
For front carries I have tried both a FWCC and and a pre-ited FCC and found them both very snug and very easy to get right first go. The passes slid very easily into place and it kept tension very well while tying.
For a back carry I tried my usual simple ruck tied at the shoulder with a candy cane chest belt. It was very comfortable, carried his weight well. The size 6 was a bit long for this kind of carry, I had a lot of extra material, but personally I don’t mind that too much!
You don’t need to be an expert wrapper by any means to get on well with this wrap. It’s soft enough to use right away without any breaking in, very strong and supportive. Would be great with small newborns and older babies right up to toddlers.
The only thing I would like to change is it would be nice if there was a difference between the top and the bottom rails of the wrap. When doing a complicated carry or a flip its nice to quickly see which edge is which!
